21/11/2019 0 Comments Selling or Not?While the home nations have so far secured wins during the International break, sackings and ‘mutually agreed’ departures from clubs have bought back to the forefront on my conscious that our owner has still to sell the club. It seems a lifetime ago Richard Murray stated the club would be “sold by the end of February” and who has heard anything from him since? It seems whenever a managerial vacancy comes up, Bowyer is instantly in the frame as he was for the Cardiff job and this is in no part due to the fact he is only on a one year contract which expires next summer. While I understand having staff on long term contracts might ‘put off’ potential buyers, it also occurs to me all talk of potential purchasers has dried up probably due to the owner’s incoherent statements on talksport and his high asking price with hidden added contract clauses (promotion to PL). Roland make up your mind, are you selling or not and is there any chance of some feedback to the fans please?
The Cardiff job has been filled by ex Millwall manager Neil Harris and his first game will be at the Valley this Saturday which is the 3rd of 5 home games in a row to be screened by Sky. Sheffield, Huddersfield and Hull on top of the Cardiff game and the Luton away game will be available on the Red Button. Note the Hull game has been moved to Friday the 13th for a 19:45 kick off and is only 4 days after the Tuesday evening game to Huddersfield. This run of fixtures will bring back bad memories from January 2016 when Karel Freye’s short period in charge came to an end after we suffered a 0-5 defeat to Huddersfield. Jose came back for a second time and immediately lost 0-6 to Hull. Fingers and toes crossed! Tauntonaddick

15/9/2019 0 Comments Maurice VickeryIt is with great regret that we must announce the sad news that long time West Country Supporters Branch member Maurice Vickery has died. Maurice was a happy gentleman, always with a smile on his face and he had a good word to say about everyone he met. He was a passionate Charlton supporter and attended many matches each season at home and away. For the Branch he held the positions of Ticket Co-ordinator and of Treasurer for many years and was still a regular attendee at Committee Meetings and AGMs long after his son Bob took on the roles. Bob has said that after a difficult few weeks he passed away on Friday 6th September and now is at peace. We will all miss Maurice and our thoughts go out to his family and friends |
